March Reflection
This month hasn’t been my month. I contracted Covid meaning I was bedridden and therefore missed out on an important face to face presentation about my comms ideas. I was feeling very far behind due to this so I applied for another extension was means I will get two extra weeks to complete my last projects. This is good as it gives me extra time however, I will be finished later than many other on my course so I might struggle for motivation when I see others having finished!
On the other hand, I feel like I am really getting somewhere with my brand, I’ve decided on a name – I-merse. I chose this name as I thought it linked to the immersive aspect of my brand as well as incorporating the metaverse aspect.
I planned my time over Easter so I could schedule a rest period as well as filling my days up with work, the tutors also provided us with a planner so it meant I could know if I was on track with work and keep up to date with tasks – especially because I missed time due to having Covid.
I developed my digital portfolio this month on Wix, I wanted to make sure I continued working on it, as I know that I would have forgotten about it under the other bigger projects. I decided on Wix as I’ve used it before, and I sort of knew how to use it compared to other platforms. I created some logo designs for some inspiration, and I also asked my friends and family to describe me in a colour and most of them said orange, which also happens to be my favourite colour! This helped me structure a layout, colour scheme and font which I will use for my personal branding. I decided on a picture for my portfolio, which must be said is quite outdated as it is the only sort of headshot image of myself that I have, however, I do think it looks quite professional.
My goals for the next coming weeks is to keep on top of the monthly reflections, as well as to curate some of my previous FMB projects for my digital portfolio, I need to decide which pieces of work I’m most proud of. I do like some of the pieces from second year, so I think I’m going to include my Collusion brand book, as I thoroughly enjoyed doing the visuals for that and writing as the brand! I am also going to include my Stage One and Stage Two pieces of work of course, and maybe my Sleek project from second year also, as we were shortlisted in that project.
Quote of the month – “Thoughts are like books, you can take it off the shelf and read it, or you can close it and put it back on the shelf.”
