April Reflection

All systems go this month. I have felt very busy with my project, and luckily, I have not started it at the last minute. I have made sure I’ve had time to plan some of the visual content and gained some inspiration of how I want my brand to look and feel for the reader. As my brand is heavily centred on visual experiences, I want to make sure that the reader gets the vibe of the brand and what it stands for. I have found the business model planning hard as well as the strategy section, however I feel like I have been able to talk to my tutors about it and overcome it. I also feel like I keep over-analysing sections and trying to improve them, I know that this probably isn’t that productive, and I should instead focus on keeping to the tight word count!

I’ve been travelling to and from university a lot this month as I’ve been struggling with mental health issues and been getting support from professionals as well as friends and family. I’ve been trying to prioritise work and getting it done, which has been hard, but the distraction of typing is helpful to my mindset – it gives me something to focus on. I feel as though the project is helping me distract myself from overthinking my future, which is beneficial because I am concerned about what I’m going to do after university is over.

I have enjoyed the weather over the past few weeks, I think the sunshine has helped me to feel more motivated, when it’s raining or gloomy it just makes me want to stay in bed and binge watch something on TV – then I just feel guilty for the rest of the day. Hopefully the weather stays nice, so it puts me in a good mood to get stuff done!

I’ve also been spending some time with the flatmates, cooking together and making time to relax in the evenings to try and unwind and de-stress from projects. We are all in the same boat with deadlines and it makes me feel better about myself that everyone else is also very stressed and is unsure about their plans after NTU. I’ve been weighing up the options after university: moving home, staying in Nottingham or travelling. Who knows?

Next month I want to get stuff done and be very motivated to do work each day and tick off specific goals and achievements to break it down into chunks, instead of looking at the project as an unmanageable thing.

Quote of the month – “Life is like a rainbow, sometimes you need the rain.”
